Bohemian style makes room for prints that were never designed to match perfectly. Florals, stripes, geometric motifs and embroidered patterns can all sit together when there is some connection between their colours.

A patterned bag is an easy place to start. It can combine several colours at once, which makes it surprisingly simple to wear with embroidered blouses, striped knits or colourful accessories. Instead of searching for an exact colour match, repeating one or two shades is usually enough to connect the pieces.

Scale also makes a difference. Small florals can work beside wider stripes or larger geometric designs because the patterns do not compete in exactly the same way. Plain pieces can then be added between them when the outfit needs some balance.

The same principle appears in bohemian interiors, where cushions, rugs and textiles from different origins are frequently combined. Fashion can take a similar approach: pieces are chosen individually and gradually brought together.

This makes print mixing particularly suited to vintage finds, handmade accessories and clothes collected while travelling. They do not have to belong to the same collection to work together.
