An old skateboard can move from the street to the wall and take on a completely different function. Its solid deck, metal trucks and wheels already provide the structure needed for an unusual rack for clothes, bags and accessories.

The simplest approach is to mount the skateboard horizontally with the wheels facing outwards. The trucks and wheels then become ready-made hanging points for handbags, backpacks, scarves or other lightweight items.

Several boards can be installed at different heights to create a larger storage wall. This works particularly well in an entrance, bedroom or dressing area, where frequently used clothing and accessories need to remain within reach.

The skateboard itself also becomes part of the interior. A natural wooden deck creates a quieter look, while coloured or graphic boards can introduce a stronger visual element. Used boards with scratches and signs of wear bring their own character to the arrangement.

Another option is to use only part of the skateboard. Trucks and wheels can be mounted directly onto a wooden board, creating individual hooks while allowing the size and shape of the rack to be adapted to the available wall space.

The idea works particularly well for denim jackets, caps, bags and casual accessories, connecting storage with the clothes and objects being displayed.

Secure wall fixings are important, particularly when the original skateboard deck is being used. The board should be mounted firmly rather than relying on the wheels or trucks themselves to hold it in place.

Instead of storing an unused skateboard in a cupboard or garage, its recognisable components can become functional hardware and give an everyday storage solution a much more individual identity.
