It is useful to consider practicality when buying objects during a trip. Size, weight and fragility affect how easily something can be transported, while knowing where an object was made can provide more context than simply purchasing a souvenir designed specifically for visitors.

Over time, these individual finds can form a record of different destinations without turning the home into a themed interior. Their connection comes from the person who selected and uses them, while differences in material, origin and technique remain visible.
