Body care is easy to keep simple when the focus is on what the skin needs every day. Cleansing, moisturising and protecting exposed skin from the sun provide a useful basis without requiring a long list of products.

Cleansing removes sweat, sunscreen and other residue that builds up during the day. Very hot water and frequent use of strong cleansers can leave the skin feeling dry, so a gentle body wash and comfortable water temperature are usually enough for everyday use.

Moisturising is particularly useful after a shower or bath. Applying a body lotion, cream or oil while the skin still feels slightly damp can help retain moisture. Richer textures may be more comfortable during colder months, while lighter lotions can work well in warmer weather.

Different areas of the body may need different attention. Hands, elbows, knees and feet can become drier than other areas, while shoulders, arms and legs are more frequently exposed to the sun. Body care therefore does not need to mean using the same product everywhere.

Exfoliation can also be part of a routine, but it does not need to be frequent or aggressive. Gentle exfoliation occasionally can remove surface build-up, while moisturising afterwards helps keep the skin comfortable.

Sun protection remains important whenever skin is exposed. Shoulders, arms, legs, hands and the upper chest can easily be forgotten when sunscreen is applied mainly to the face.

A good body-care routine is ultimately one that is easy to repeat. A few products used consistently can be more useful than a complicated routine that rarely becomes part of everyday life.
