Zowart creates distinctive chairs by combining furniture design with materials and influences from Morocco and different parts of Africa.

The idea behind Zowart dates back to 2000, while the collection began taking its current form in 2017. Even the name has a personal origin, formed from letters connected to the names of the designer’s three children.

The chairs are characterised by their curved wooden frames and contrasting upholstery. Walnut wood is combined with Moroccan rugs, cowhide leather, African raffia and patterned fabrics, giving each piece a different combination of texture, colour and pattern.

Some designs use bold zebra or cowhide patterns, while others place more emphasis on the grain and shape of the wooden frame. Although the materials and references vary, the distinctive construction creates a recognisable identity across the collection.

Based on the Ourika Road outside Marrakech, Zowart brings different cultural and material influences together through contemporary furniture.
