Denim is far more versatile than the classic pair of jeans, particularly in a bohemian wardrobe where unusual cuts, textures and combinations have always had a place.

Dresses, skirts, shirts, corset-style tops and jackets show how differently the fabric can be used. Even familiar denim can take on another character through patchwork, raw edges, embroidery, faded finishes or contrasting panels.

The weight of the fabric also matters. Structured denim works well for fitted dresses and jackets, while softer versions can create looser shirts, skirts and relaxed layers.

Blue denim is particularly easy to combine with the materials associated with bohemian dressing. Suede, leather, crochet, wool and silver jewellery all work naturally alongside it. Colour can be introduced through accessories, from a bright boot to a patterned bag or scarf.

Vintage and repurposed denim add another dimension. Existing jeans and jackets can be altered, reconstructed or embellished, giving the fabric a longer life while creating pieces that are less uniform.

That adaptability is one reason denim remains relevant across decades, seasons and changing interpretations of bohemian style.
