For Tracey Heppner, discovering Marrakech is less about completing a list of sights and more about understanding the city through the people, places and everyday moments encountered along the way.

After years of designing journeys through Morocco, she has developed an approach to travel built around personal connections and experiences that cannot simply be selected from a standard itinerary.

Marrakech is a good example. The medina changes throughout the day, from the quieter streets of the early morning to workshops opening their doors, markets becoming busier and cafés filling with people. Spending time in these different settings reveals another side of a city that many travellers think they already know.

For Tracey, local knowledge also plays an important role. A conversation with an artisan, a recommendation for a small restaurant or time spent in a riad can influence how a destination is experienced just as much as visiting its best-known landmarks.

Her approach is what she describes as curated travel: creating a journey around the traveller while leaving enough space for unexpected discoveries and genuine encounters.
