Antlers have a long association with mountain interiors and hunting lodges, but their role in contemporary alpine design has changed. Today they appear as decorative objects, wall pieces, lighting elements and even functional accessories such as coat hooks.

Traditionally, mounted antlers and hunting trophies were used in chalets, inns and rural homes. They reflected hunting culture and the wildlife of the surrounding mountain regions.

Contemporary interiors often use antlers differently. Individual antlers can be mounted directly onto a wall, incorporated into lighting or adapted into practical objects such as coat and bag racks. This allows the characteristic form to remain visible without creating a traditional hunting-room interior.

Placement has a significant influence on the result. A single piece can work as a sculptural wall object, while several antlers grouped together create a much stronger decorative feature.

Antlers also combine naturally with materials frequently used in alpine interiors, including timber, wool, leather and stone. In more contemporary spaces, combining them with simple walls and restrained furniture can create contrast between traditional references and modern design.

Alternatives to natural antlers are increasingly available as well. Reproductions made from wood, ceramic, resin and other materials can reference the same form without using an animal-derived object.
