Herbal tea can be one of the simplest drinks to build into a daily routine, with different infusions working well at different moments of the day.
Peppermint and ginger are fresh, distinctive choices that work particularly well after a meal, while chamomile and softer herbal blends are commonly chosen later in the evening. Ingredients such as lemon verbena, fennel, mint and rooibos bring very different flavours, making herbal tea much broader than the traditional cup of chamomile.
Because most herbal infusions are naturally caffeine-free, they can also be useful for anyone who wants to reduce coffee or traditional tea later in the day. Served hot in winter or chilled with citrus, herbs or fruit in warmer weather, the same ingredients can work throughout the year.
Loose leaves and fresh herbs also make it easy to experiment. Mint from the garden, slices of fresh ginger or a combination of herbs can turn a simple pot of tea into something different without adding sugar or complicated ingredients.
Rather than treating herbal tea as a wellness remedy, it can simply be another way to drink more fluids and introduce a wider variety of flavours into the day.
